Energy Efficiency: The Solution for Future Generations!
What is Energy Check-Up?
Today’s energy costs are a common issue that we all seek solutions for. Alongside this, it is an unavoidable reality that our energy production impacts nature. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the pressing issue of “global warming” emerged from this very context. So, what are the causes of global warming? At this point, it’s possible to make countless diverse interpretations. However, in this article, I want to address what we can or should do for our world and future generations.
Energy is produced globally through certain methods, and the way this production occurs is discussed across various platforms. In light of all this, did you know that you can obtain energy at a much lower cost by using it more efficiently? We call this "Energy Efficiency." Energy Efficiency is a topic that fills discussions and generates considerable dialogue. This concept gained momentum with the enactment of a law in 2007, and today, many ministries actively participate and support it, while NGOs strive to raise awareness through various initiatives.
To define energy efficiency for those curious, it can be described as "using energy more conservatively without compromising current living conditions, production quantities, or quality."
The EGİAD (Aegean Young Businessmen Association), a highly environmentally conscious organization, has also embarked on significant energy efficiency projects, starting with the Energy Check-Up project. This project is one that EGİAD emphasizes and is undoubtedly impactful. The energy inputs of its members will be analyzed comprehensively, reviewed from a professional standpoint, reported by technical experts, and a roadmap will be established for how businesses can use energy more efficiently. In short, it will serve as a "check-up" for our enterprises. This means our businesses will receive a diagnosis from our experts, akin to a medical examination. As you know, diagnosis is a crucial aspect of the treatment process. For businesses that wish to continue on this path, Efficiency Improvement Projects (EAP) will be developed following the check-up.
In the improvement efforts, the businesses we foresee needing investments will have the opportunity to work alongside our experts throughout the investment process. Additionally, regarding the financing of these investments, the Ministry of Energy offers EAP support, grants, and various financial institutions provide long-term loans. I want to highlight that KOSGEB also has some variable percentage grants available. In summary, there are plenty of resources for those willing to invest in efficiency, and our businesses will consult our experts in this regard.
In essence, reducing energy costs—an issue we all value greatly and cannot ignore any longer—is now partly in our hands. The primary goal of this project is to lower production costs and enhance competitive strength. I am confident that support from all of us will facilitate the project’s objectives and indirectly enhance our business’s competitiveness. Moreover, I firmly believe that this project will not stop here but will pave the way for new investments, resulting in both financial and environmental benefits for our future generations and children.
